This course has been approved by the State of Missouri and enables the successful participant to obtain a State of Iowa and/or State of Missouri asbestos inspector license.
Provides students with information about:
- Asbestos awareness
- Functions of building inspectors
- Legal liabilities of inspectors
- Building systems
- Public/Employee/Building occupant relations
- Pre-inspection planning and review
- Inspecting for friable and nonfriable asbestos
- Bulk sampling and documentation
- Personal protection equipment
- Record keeping and reporting
- Regulatory review
- Written State of Missouri license examination (administered at the end of the course)
After completion of the inspector course, the inspector will be able to:
- Conduct asbestos inspections
- Assess the condition of the suspect materials
- Collect bulk samples
Please note:
- In order to participate in respirator fit-testing, a copy of the physician’s certification must be provided to the course instructor.
- Students wishing to obtain a State of Missouri license will need to take an additional exam. This exam will need to be taken only once if certification stays current. If participant lets certification pass the grace period, the initial class and Missouri exam will need to be retaken.
- Upon successful completion of the course and exam, each student will receive a certificate of accreditation as an asbestos inspector.
- Students enrolled in the initial management planner must attend all 3 days of the course. The class fee will not be refunded for those who do not attend the full 3 days.
- The refresher course must be completed annually (prior to the expiration date of the certificate) in order to maintain the certification.
